• Balance the water chemistry
• Remove skimmer baskets, wall fittings, cleaners, and ladders from the pool
• Lower water level in pool
• Drain all pumping, filtering, heating and chlorinating equipment
• Add winterizing algaecide and other floaters
• Cover the pool
